Our Story
The Duck Gallery was established in July 2024 with the vision of showcasing the incredible talent of the local artists of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and beyond. The Duck Gallery is nestled in the charming seaside town of Duck in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, an area rich in creativity, tradition and culture. The Duck Gallery features a curated collection of local art, paintings, drawings, sculptures and a small selection of handcrafted jewelry.
Liz McBain, Founder
Liz McBain was raised in Raleigh, NC. With a lifelong passion for art, she began painting and drawing at a very young age. In 2009, Liz won the Congressional Art Competition - NC District, where her artwork hung in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C from 2009-2010.
After studying at Savannah College of Art & Design and North Carolina State University, she settled down with her husband, Jamie, and continues to raise their three children. She creates in a variety of mediums, including painting, drawing, and her handmade jewelry line, Riley James. Liz is the founder of The Duck Gallery, and also owns Tar Heel Trading Company, an American handcraft gallery, with her husband, Jamie. She resides in Southern Shores, NC in the Outer Banks.
